Weekend in Bangkok

One day, young Boy, curious and bold, followed Pak Wan. “Why do you help everyone so much, Pak Wan?” he asked. Pak Wan chuckled, his eyes twinkling. “Well, Boy, it makes folks happy, and a happy town is a good place to live.”
Boy wasn’t satisfied. “But why do you come here alone every night?” Pak Wan sighed, a soft smile on his lips. “Years ago, I lost my wife, Che Melati. We used to watch the sunset together. Now, I come here to feel close to her and remind myself that, like the sun, kindness can light up the darkest days.”
Boy pondered this as they watched the sky turn shades of orange and pink. “So, kindness is like a sunset?” he asked. Pak Wan nodded. “Exactly. It’s a gift that costs nothing but means everything.”
And so, the town learned that while Pak Wan’s charity warmed their hearts, it was the memory of Che Melati that lit up his evenings, teaching them all that true wealth lies in the love and joy we share.
